Who we are
Chair: Zoë Willis
Where are you studying? University of Warwick
What are you studying? My PhD project looks at furthering our understanding of foot-rot in sheep by studying the virulence factors and strain community of the main bacterium that causes this highly endemic disease.
What have you gained from BSAS? Being part of the Early Career Council has allowed me to develop strong collaborations with other students, researchers and industries who I wouldn't have had contact with otherwise.
Deputy Chair: Sophie Hazelden
Where are you studying? University of Leeds
What are you studying? My PhD project looks at identifying the mode of action of zinc oxide in post-weaned pigs, by studying changes in the microbiome of the gastrointestinal tract.
What have you gained from BSAS? Since an undergraduate, BSAS has provided me with the opportunity to present my ongoing research; network with like minded people and share experiences with those at a similar stage in their career as myself.

Where are you studying? Rothamsted (North Wyke)
What are you studying? The optimisation of pasture based sheep production systems in the UK through the development of a suite of key performance indicators.
What have you gained from BSAS? BSAS has given me the opportunity to interact with other early career scientists, develop my existing research skills and gain awareness of the research currently being undertaken in my field.
